Agatha Glennon (nee Paul) peacefully joined her husband Bill, mother Mary, and father Nicholas and departed family in Heaven on February 13, 2013. Agatha was born in her grandparent's ancestral home in Johnstown, PA on October 20, 1921. Agatha's mother was widowed with seven children. The great depression was on and there were no supporting social programs. Agatha, the oldest at age 10, was her mother's major helper. In her spare time from school, and duties at home, she cleaned neighbor's homes, floors and toilets bringing home dimes and quarters for her family. Agatha and her mother kept the family knitted together. As they became adults each in turn mirrored their big sisters determination.
They prospered, rewarding their mother tenfold with the greatest of gifts… Family. Agatha and William Glennon were married for 57 years until his death in 1995. Most who met her loved her for life. A gregarious person with an angelic lilting laugh. Her earthly titles were many…Deputy Sheriff, PTA Mom, C.A.P. member, Nurses Aid, Manager Assumption Church Hall, Bonanza chef, Beach Café chef, and F.O.E. member. Her fried chicken and pasta dishes cannot be equaled. She had a profound devotion to the Blessed Mother. Also preceded by Siblings, Francis, Nicholas, Theresa (Colangelo), and Marie (Kobrock). Survived by children, Faye Baltrusis, Kenneth Glennon (Cheryl), Louise Derifield, and Robert Glennon (Janet), sister Rita Cole, brother John Paul (Sandra), Sister's-in-law Nora Vinzke, Evelyn Paul, and legions of loving nephews and nieces. Her zest for life was rewarded with Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty Great-Grand Children and Ten Great-Great Grand Children. Viewing will be at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN Sunday February 17 from 2-6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will begin with 9:15 AM Prayers, Monday February 18, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home and then to St. Mary of the Lake, Miller section of Gary, IN. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Donations are welcome in her name to Our Lady of Victory Homes, Lackawanna, NY 14218.
