Obituary

Mary Aileen "Lee" (Merrick) Ellicott, passed away in Porter, IN, after a lengthy illness on September 15, 2018 at the age of 76.  She was the daughter of the late Edward M. Merrick M.D. and Mary Aileen (Mahoney) Merrick and raised in Milton MA. Beyond Milton, Lee embraced life in Cleveland, OH, Jersey City, NJ, Brighton (Boston), MA, and Crown Point, IN, before finding her 'forever' home in Porter Beach, IN, on the shores of Lake Michigan, where she cherished life in the dunes, and enjoyed the company of the friends and neighbors who shared her passion for The Lake.

While raising three sons, she graduated from the Purdue University (Northwest) College of Nursing, first with a Bachelors and later a Master's Degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for a number of years before becoming one of the region's first Nurse Practitioners, specializing in oncology.  She was the founder and President of Residential Clinical Services, a Home Healthcare Agency based in Merrillville, IN, which recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary of service to patients in Northwest Indiana.  Over the course of her career, she received numerous awards and honors stemming from her work as both a health care provider and entrepreneur.

She was predeceased by her son, Christopher M. Mangan, of Philadelphia, PA and Bangkok, Thailand. She leaves behind her children Charles E. Mangan (and spouse Wassana)  of Jenkintown, PA., and Patrick T. Mangan, of Porter, IN.. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Charles Patrick, Brigid, Christopher and Aileen Mangan, children of Christopher Mangan; Charles Edmund, Andrew and Ailish Mangan, children of Charles E. Mangan; and Fletcher and Declan Mangan, children of Patrick T. Mangan.

She also leaves her siblings and their spouses, Brian R. and Rebecca Merrick of West Barnstable MA, John H. and Joanne Merrick of Manchester NH, Christopher and Barbara Merrick of Kingston MA and Viki Merrick of Woods Hole MA. She was predeceased by her sister Ann Klein Dale and brothers Michael, Edward M.,Jr., Carl and James Merrick. She also leaves 28 nieces and nephews.

Family, friends and associates will be notified of a Remembrance to be held in Northwest Indiana shortly, and for a later date in Woods Hole MA.
