Obituary

Aileen L. (Garanson) Owens

Aileen L. Owens, 97, of DeWitt, Iowa passed away Monday November 27, 2017 atMaggie's House. Aileen was born in Alta Vista, Kansas, to Emanuel and Clara Garanson.  She was raised with three sisters on a farm in Kansas. After completing her higher education, Aileen became a school teacher. While she was teaching, she met Glen Owens, who was serving in an Army base in Kansas.  She later married Glen on December 3, 1944. Glen became a Presbyterian pastor early in their

marriage, and served many churches with Aileen as his helpmate. He passed away February 27, 2007. Aileen was able to remain in her home in Grand Junction, Colorado, until September 2013, at which point her eldest daughter,  Charyn and her husband, Charles asked her to move to DeWitt to live with them. Later when her health began to decline, she moved to Maggie's House Assisted Living, a short distance from Charyn and Charles' home. Aileen was able to make many friends and participated in the numerous activities offered. As a pastor's wife, an amazing mother of four daughters and a caring sister of three siblings, Aileen brought joy to

all.  She loved and encouraged her three grandchildren and great granddaughter in the ways of the Lord Jesus. Her favorite pastimes were traveling with her family, attending Bible studies, and praying with friends and neighbors. Aileen knew Jesus

Christ as her personal Savior and is with Him now. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her bright eyes and glowing smile will be greatly missed. Survivors include a sister, Elna (Don) Ten Eyck of Alta Vista and four daughters and their families, Charyn (Charles) Mills of DeWitt and their son, Tim Mills and their daughter, Kathy (Eric) Dahlman and Kathy and Eric's daughter, Emily; Peggy (Stanley) Conrad of  Placida, Florida; Connie (Garry) Anderson of Valparaiso,
