Ailene Ippolito, age 67, a resident of Hobart passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011. She was born on February 11, 1944 in Whitley County, Kentucky, the daughter of Lizzie Ellen and Joe Brad Starrett. Ailene graduated from Purdue – North Central and became a registered nurse. She worked for over 20 years as a nurse. Ailene loved to sing and play guitar, she enjoyed watching movies, and dearly loved her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.


Ailene is suvived by her loving family; husband Nicholas Ippolito, son Arnold "Bubba" (Patricia) Taylor, Jr., Portage, daughters, Janet Stepaniak, Portage, Clara (James) Spencer, Lake Station, and Kristy (Joshua) Lugar, Portage, 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Debra Ailene Taylor.


A visitation for Ailene Ippolito will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with a funeral service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Burial will be at McCool Cemetery in Portage. Memorials in Ailene's memory may be made to the Lugar family.
