ALBERT D. "JIM" KINSEY, age 84, of Lake Station, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Vibra Hospital of Northwest Indiana in Merrillville. Jim was a lifelong Lake Station resident graduating from East Gary Edison in 1945 and retired from the Lake Station Community Schools. He was a WW II Army Veteran and member & Past Commander of American Legion Post #100 and VFW Post #9323. Jim was active in Democratic Politics and served as a City Councilman for 38 years and member of the Board of Works.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gussie, son, Jeffrey Kinsey of Ft., Myers, FL, daughter, Karen (Michael) Jankowicz of Hobart, 2 step-sons, Brian (Tammy) Smith, of Valparaiso and Stephen Smith of White Forest, NC, 5 grandchildren: Karissa (Aaron) Raderstorf of Lafayette, IN, Katie Jankowicz of Hobart, Zach (Tracy) Kinsey of Burns Harbor, IN, Jade Kinsey of Lowell, Brian Smith, Jr. of Valparaiso, 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Dean & Viola Kinsey, 1st wife, Yvonne "Bonnie", brother, Mark Kinsey and sister, Jeanne Campbell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are preferred.
Funeral services and visitation will both be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart with visitation beginning at 4:00 pm until the funeral service begins at 6:30 pm with American Legion Chaplain John Wrolen officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
