Alejandrino Rivera, age 88, of Lake Station passed away Friday December 9, 2016 at the Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 7, 1928 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico to the late Domingo and Modesta (Aponte) Rivera. Alejandrino was a very hard working family man that retired from US Steel with over 30 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn (Fronsecca) Rivera; eight children, Nilda (James) Seuberling of Lake Station, Jenny (Nestaly) Campos of Merrillville, Anthony Rivera of Lake Station, David Rivera of Goose Creek, SC, Norbert (Cheryl) Rivera of Summerville, SC, Miguel Rivera of Lake Station, Edwin Rivera of Lake Station and Maria Rivera of Lake Station; nine grandchildren, Norma, Lisa, Jay, David, Jr., Ashley, Maria, Rebecca, Jessica and Nathan; 15 great grandchildren, Crystal, Brandi, Jessie, Joshua, Emma, Nicholas, Alexandria, David III, Anaria, Skyler, Brooklyn, Cameron, Anjelica, Louis, and Issiah; eight great-great grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, Bradin, Wyatt, Rosalee, Brett, Jaydin and Abey; one brother, Gabino Rivera of Puerto Rico; two sisters; Augustina Rivera of MA and Julia Rivera of Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews.
Alejandrino was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Maria Hertzlieb.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday December 14, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, IN 46405 with Pastor Isreal Santiago officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Portage, IN. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
