Alexius "Alex" Tapia, age 36, of Portage, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014. He was born on November 11, 1978 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Jose and Guadalupe (nee Ayala) Tapia. Alex was self-employed and a former Local 181 Member and he loved spending time with his family. Alex was a loving husband, father, and, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Krystal (nee Latham) Tapia; three sons, Alex Tapia of Valparaiso, Dominic Tapia of Portage and Kristian Tapia of Portage; two daughters, Priscilla Tapia of Hammond and Maribella Tapia of Portage; one brother, Jose Tapia; one sister, Lupita (Paul) Cruz of Indianapolis; ex-wife, Alejandra Gonzalez of Hammond and many other loving family members and friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Alex will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 7: 00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana 46368, with Rev Andrew J. Corona officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 4:00 pm until time of service at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. Cremation will follow.
