Alfred S. Govorchin, age 84, of Valparaiso, formerly of Hobart, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016. He was born on January 4, 1932 in Gary Indiana to the late Samuel and Mary (nee Medanic) Govorchin. On July 11, 1975 in Highland, Indiana, he married, Bernice (nee Grakey) Govorchin. He retired after a 32 year career in education. He was a principal at Grissom and Riley Elementary Schools in Gary, Indiana. Alfred proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice Govorchin of Valparaiso; three daughters, Tina (Ron) Frost of Crown Point, Susan (Van) Thompson of Hobart and Susan (Caroline) Collins of Ft. Wayne; two grandchildren, David (Debra) Frost and Elizabeth (Dave) Frost and other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mary Govorchin.
