Alice L. Milner, of Hobart, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, at St. Mary Medical Center. She was born November 25, 1946, in Gary, Indiana to the late Jack and Harriet (Jeremiah) Ford. In her final days, Alice was surrounded by the love of her family- just as she spent her life surrounding others with care and compassion.
Alice dedicated 25 years at the Norge Village Laundromat in Glen Park where she formed many lifelong friendships. She later continued her calling as a CNA/QMA at the Life Care Center of Valparaiso for another 25 years, where her kindness and gentle spirit won the hearts of all her patients and her coworkers.
Her family was truly her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Milner of Hobart; three children, Sherry (Bill) Brown of South Bend, and Charles (Kathleen) Urban of Tallahassee, FL, Mark (Sandy) Urban of Argyle, TX; and daughter-in-law, Heather Urban of Denver, CO. She will be deeply missed by her ten grandchildren- Kimberly, Christopher, Tyler, Eric, Andrew, Mark Jr., Hailey, Luke, Jake, and Aiden- and her two great- grandchildren, Noah and Greyson. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Arnold, along with many cherished relatives and dear friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved youngest son, Joseph Matthew Urban; her brother, David Ford; and her sister, Barbara Bartley.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Pamela, Donald, Jack and Linda for their kindness and assistance with her transportation to medical treatments – your support meant so much.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from noon to 3:00 pm on Saturday April 11, 2026, at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342. A Memorial Service will follow immediately at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Alice’s honor.
Alice’s legacy of love, strength and compassion will live on to all who knew her.
