Alpha Coffman-Poturalski, age 81 of Calumet Township passed away Sunday November 5th surrounded by her family. She was born March 12, 1942 in Chesterton, IN. to Alpha and Florence Burns. Alpha spent her life in Northwest Indiana where she was a long-time educator at the Lake Ridge School system, a member of the American Federation of Teachers, American Legion Auxiliary post 454 of New Chicago and Eagles Auxiliary Series 2948 of Hobart. Alpha is survived by her children; Randy (Alyce) Coffman, Kevin (Jane) Coffman. Step-children Walter (Sheryl) Poturalski, Denise (Jim) Stephens, Dennis Poturalski; Siblings Jackie Woods, Michael (Trudy) Burns, Dave (Deana) Burns; Many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was Preceded in death by her parents: Alpha and Florence Burns; Siblings: Beverly Baldwin, Linda Dye, Calvin Burns; First Husband Roy Coffman; Second Husband Walter J. Poturalski; Step-Daughter Linda Turner.

Alpha will be laid to rest November 9th at 2:30PM at Calvary Cemetery 2701 Willowdale Rd, Portage, IN 46368
