ALVIN K. LACKOVITCH, age 87, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at home. Alvin had recently returned to the area after having resided in Largo, FL, where he was a member of the Sunshine Voice Club and past president. Alvin had also resided in North Webster after his retirement where he spent numerous hours fishing. Alvin served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Inland Steel as a foreman. While Alvin resided in East Gary he was very active with Little League and served as president in 1954. He also belonged to the East Gary Lions Club, where he served as past president, and the East Gary Schools Building Committee in 1963. Alvin loved watching the Chicago White Sox and IU Basketball. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Alvin is survived by his 2 sons, Donald (Kathy) Lackovitch and Michael Lackovitch, all of Clearwater, FL; 2 daughters, Jane (Bob) Woynaroski and Melissa (Arman) Sarkisian all of Valparaiso; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Lackovitch, Glen Allen, VA, Scott (Angela) Lackovitch Midlothian, VA, Kim (Tony) Easter, Garnet Valley, PA, Eric Woynaroski, Honolulu, HI, Jennifer (Tim) Wotherspoon, Wheatfield, Melissa (Tony) Coffman, Valparaiso, Sarah (Jeremy Holland) Woynaroski, Hobart, Amy (Eric Osorio) Woynaroski, Valparaiso, Arman G. Sarkisian, Valparaiso, Drew Sarkisian, Valparaiso, Scott (Amy) Weliczko, and Sandy Barnes; 10 great grandchildren, Haley, Adam, Ryan, Sofia, Anthony, Rileigh, Landon, Myles, Renner, and Elyse; sister, Doris Lackovitch of Valparaiso; other loving family and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes; wife, L. Maxine Lackovitch; son, Barry; and grandson, Stanley Weliczko.
A funeral service for Alvin will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Timothy Engel officiating. At rest Graceland Mausoleum.
