Amelia Castillo

Amelia Castillo "Tootsie-Guera", age 82, of Portage, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018. She was born on November 6, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to the late Mauro and Natalie Castillo. In her free time, she enjoyed playing BINGO and traveling. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her sons, Albert (Nancy) Trevino, Genero Alvarez Jr., Anthony Alvarez, Victor Alvarez, Antonio Rodriguez, Jr., daughters, Natalie (Lucio Valdez) Pozos, Laura (James) Rodriguez-Olson; grandchildren, Martin Rodriguez, Eric Alvarez, Neleya Alvarez, A.J. Olson, Zack Olson, Heather Olson, Austin Springer, Mateo Rodriguez, Kiana Rodriguez, Makayla Rodriguez, Blanca Pozos, Maria Pozos, Corrine Martinez, Natalie Pozos Jr., Monnett Brown, Dariana Matteson-Trevino, Dwight Matteson-Trevino, Tamara Matteson-Trevino; godmother, Irene Pineda; and many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Chico Trevino, Alfred Trevino, Alvaro Alvarez; brothers, Manuel Eguia, John Eguia, Peter Eguia, Angelo Ceja, Carl Castillo; sisters, Jenny Corralez, Caroline Rodriguez, Ruth Barragan, Angela Ceja. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Amelia's name may be made to the family to help defray the cost of the funeral.

A funeral service for Amelia will take place Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
