Angeline Gonzales (née Hernandez), a radiant soul and beloved matriarch, peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the age of 95. A former resident of Hammond, she spent her later years in Hobart, Indiana.
Born in Asherton, Texas, to Ramon and Flora Hernandez, Angeline's life was a testament to love, family, and unwavering faith. After working as a key punch operator at the Prudential Building in Chicago, she dedicated her life to nurturing her family.
On September 10, 1955, she entered into a lifelong bond of love with her soulmate, Julian. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy and cherished memories.
Angeline's passions were as diverse as they were delightful. She found solace in the simple pleasures of life: the thrill of bingo, the aroma of home-cooked meals, the spin of slot machines, the challenge of crossword puzzles, the beauty of her garden, and the captivating stories of her beloved telenovelas.
With her family by her side, Angeline embarked on countless adventures, preferring the open road to distant destinations. As she traversed the country, she meticulously documented her journeys in her elegant handwriting, creating a lasting legacy of her travels.
Angeline's love for her family was boundless. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Julian; her loving sons, Julian (Mitzi) and Mark (Robin) Gonzales; and her cherished daughter, Cindy (Gerry) Pajdzik. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Gonzalo Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, Esperanza Torres, and Lydia Mendoza.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Ramon and Flora Hernandez; her cherished grandson, Jeffrey Allen Gonzales; and her dear siblings, Ray Hernandez, Lucia Mendoza, Maria Trinidad Niaves, Elida Marquez, and Adela Perez.
Angeline's enduring legacy extends far beyond her immediate family. She is survived by nine grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, immediate services will not be held. However, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. Angeline's radiant spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
