Anita A. Marquez

Anita A. Marquez (nee Batista), age 69, of Hobart, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017. She was born in Puerto Rico on April 25, 1948 to the late Alejandro and Andrea (nee Arvelo) Batista. Anita enjoyed crocheting, feeding her family, and will be remembered as a jokester. She spent time as a Sunday School teacher, but above all, Anita loved God and instilled her faith into her children.

Anita is survived by her mother, Ramona Batista; daughters, Merlinda (Wally) Rosado, Amalia Marquez-Alvarez (Manuel); son, Frank (Irene) Marquez; grandchildren, Amalia Maria Bryson, Anndreanna Tibbetts, Cristina Guzman, Joe F. Carnell, Francisco A. Marquez, David A. Carnell, Alexander N. Marquez; 6 great grandchildren; 4 brothers; and 7 sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Marquez, Jr.; and sister, Ramonita.

A Funeral Service will take place Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal Church, 3802 Elm St. East Chicago, IN 46312 with Pastor Johnny Bonilla officiating. Anita will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 2-6 pm at the church, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm. For more information, please call 219-942-2109.
