Anita C. Runions, of Portage, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was born on December 4, 1960 to Norman and Betsy (nee Heskett) Runions. Anita graduated from Wirt High School, class of 1979. She was a member of Hilltop Church of Christ in Valparaiso. Anita worked for Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso. She spent her free time bowling for the Porter County Special Olympics. Anita will be remembered as a loving daughter, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.
Anita is survived by her mother, Betsy Runions; sister, Diane (Jim) Gedda; special aunt, Linda "Peewee" Lyle; niece, Alexis Gedda; nephews, Jimmy Gedda, Scott (Sarah) Gedda; great nieces, Madison, Elliana, Sofia; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Runions and sister, Norma Runions.

A funeral service for Anita will take place Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN 46342 with minister Matthew French officiating, assisted by Franklin Smith. Visitation will be held Sunday June 5, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
