Anna Jane Freeman (nee Merryman), age 84, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015. She was born on September 24, 1931 in Clinton, Arkansas to the late Lester and Minnie (nee Burns) Merryman. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and worked for Nipsco for a number of years. She enjoyed many years belonging to the "Skid Row Campers" Club. Anna will always be remembered as a loving, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to those who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Terry Freeman of Hobart and Kevin (Jane) Freeman of Hobart; three grandchildren, Josh Freeman and Benny De LaCruz and Danessa Zirkelbach; two great-grandchildren Madeline and Max Zirkelbach and sister, Carthel Wanko of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Billy E. Freeman; parents, Lester and Minnie Merryman and three sisters, Clarkie Shelby, Polly Sisson and infant girl, Lillian Rose Merryman.
A funeral service for Anna will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342, with Pastor Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm with an Eastern Star Service at 6:00 pm also at Rees funeral home, Hobart Chapel.
