Anna Tesanovich, age 88, a longtime resident of Portage passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 28, 2011. She was born on September 12, 1922 in Gary the daughter of Joseph and Marica Novich. Anna was married to Paul Tesanovich on June 15, 1941 in Gary. Anna and her husband owned and operated Paul and Son's Garbage Disposal and Paul and Son's Liquor Store. She was a member of Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Church. She was a wonderful mother and a special Grandma Ann.

Anna is survived by her loving family; sons Drago (Ruth Ann) Tesanovich, Colbert, Georgia, Paul Tesanovich, Herman, Michigan, and Steven (Darlene) Tesanovich, Sugar Land, Texas, daughters Mary Ann (Michael) Oatis, East Grand Rapids, Michigan, Paulette (Jack) Pavlack, LaPorte, Martha (Don) Govert, Hobart, Cindi (Alan) Johnson, Colbert, Georgia, and Kris Tesanovich, L'Anse, Michigan, 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Paul, children Donna and David Tesanovich, sisters Mary Novich, Olga Vance, and Sophie Popjevach, and daughter-in-law Julie Tesanovich.

A visitation for Anna Tesanovich will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. A funeral service for Anna Tesanovich will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
