Anne (Schmauss) Vygrala, 97, of Littleton died on September 9, 2010 at Life Care
of Nashoba Valley in Littleton. She was born in Alexandria, Indiana on December
8, 1912 daughter of the late Dr. Leonard and Mrs. Mary (Hoffmann) Schmauss and
was the wife of the late Joseph Vygrala. She graduated as valedictorian of Class
1927, Alexandria. Mrs. Vygrala had worked as a cost accountant but was mostly
know for her work as an organist at St Bridget's Church in Hobart, Indiana. She was married in 1936 and made her home in Gary, Indiana for a year and Hobart, Indiana for 70 years. Most recently she moved to Littleton, MA in 2008.

Anne was a past president of St. Anne's Sodality at St Bridget's Church and
taught CCD for over forty years, retiring at age 92. She was also co-founder of
St. Bridget's School Library in Hobart, Indiana, where she was librarian. She
was a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years, active in the Democratic Committee,
Sweet Adelines, Notre Dame Discussion Group, Daughters of Isabel, and Gary
Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed playing piano for weekday Masses
at St. Bridget's and playing water volleyball at the YMCA.


Her survivors include son, Jerry Vygrala of Louisville, KY., 2 daughters, Carole
Butler of Littleton, MA and Mary Beth Vygrala of San Diego, CA, 3 Granddaughters
and 6 Great grandchildren.


A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, 10:00 AM, at St
Bridget Catholic Church, 568 E. Second St., Hobart, with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart. A visitation for Anne will be Friday, September 17, 2010 from 9-10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church just prior to the service.
