IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anselmo A. "Mo"
Guzman
July 29, 1945 – February 5, 2026
Anselmo A. “Mo” Guzman, Jr. age 80, of Lake Station, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at his home.
He was born on July 29, 1945, in East Chicago, Indiana, to the late Anselmo and Maria Guzman. Mo proudly served his country in the Army Reserves for ten years. On May 1, 1974, he married the love of his life, Judy Atkins, in East Chicago, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
Mo retired from Inland Steel after 33 years as a coal car operator. A devout Christian, he found great comfort in reading his Bible and listening to Christian music. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors. Never one to sit still, Mo even took a job as a security guard after retirement to keep himself busy. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Guzman; sons, Phillip Guzman and Daniel (Emmy) Guzman; daughter-in-law, Tina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers; five sisters; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Jamie Guzman, Jason Guzman, and Mario “Mikey” Guzman; granddaughter, Karessa Guzman; one brother; and four sisters.
A celebration of Mo’s life will take place at a later date. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com
