ANTONIO "TONY" RIVERA, age 62, of Lake Station, formerly of Gary, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Barrio Mariana II, Humacao, Puerto Rico on August 14, 1957 to the late Roberto Rivera and Josefina Rivera. Tony was a retired millwright from U.S. Steel and a United States Air Force veteran.  His life was dedicated to his family.  Tony was an amazing artist.  He enjoyed music and loved dancing to Puerto Rican music and eating the traditional cuisine. Tony will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  His loving smile and playful personality will be missed by all.  Tony is survived by his wife, Maurillis "Millie" Rivera, daughter, Tabitha Jones, Lake Station; son, Brian (Anna) Jones, Brook, IN and his sisters, Dinorah (Samuel) Gonzalez, Tampa, FL and Lillian (Luis) Torres, Lake Station; 3 grandchildren, Patience (Brendan) Hudkins, Serenity Jones and Josh (Laurel) Zylo, 2 great grandchildren, Miles and Aria Hudkins and 8 nieces and nephews, Marisol, Iris, Valentine, Amadelys, Jason, Delilah, Samuel Jr. and Roberto.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, Roberto Rivera and Josefina Rivera; niece, Lisette Rivera; great-niece, Alicia L. Rodriguez; and great-grandson, Landon Swafford.

A celebration of Tony's life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 2 pm to 7 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart, IN 46342. There will be an opportunity for family and friends to speak between 6 pm and 7 pm with a 7 pm service to follow with Father Thomas E.
