Arnetta Ruth Gundrum, age 79, of Valparaiso passed away Saturday June 30, 2018 at the Chesterton Manor Nursing Center.  She was born January 25, 1939 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to the late Herman and Ruth (Martin) Heilman.  Arnetta owned and operated her own cleaning service.  She was very active with Midwest Dachshund Rescue were she fostered several dachshunds and adopted several more.  She was a beloved member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Larry) Valant of Portage; three granddaughters, Christina Lynn Farrand of Portage, Crystal Lynn Sandrey of Portage and Brittnay Valant of Merrillville; four great grandchildren; Logan Allen Farrand, Jaxson Troy Farrand, Oliver Edward Sandrey and Lily Ann Sandrey; one sister, Betty Ingram of Lake Station; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Arnetta was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday July 7, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church 760 McCool Road Valparaiso, IN 46385 with Rev. John C. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Friday July 6, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, IN 46368.
