ARTHUR O. KNIGHT, age 83, of Hobart, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026. He was born on July 11, 1943, to the late Ola and Vera Knight. Arthur was a 1961 graduate of Tolleston High School and earned his Bachelor of Business from Valparaiso University. He had a passion for collecting coins and stamps since he was a child and opened Knight Coin and Jewelry in Gary in 1966. Arthur moved the store to 301 Main St. in 1972 until 1996, when he moved to 237 Main, where it still operates. He was a 60-year lifetime member #867 of the American Numismatist Association (ANA). Arthur was a member and past president of the Peace Pipe Chapter of National Watch and Clock Collector’s Association and also belonged to the APS. He was a longtime member of Augustana Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the National Guard. Arthur loved to travel, visit the casinos, and enjoy a nice meal. He was a lifelong Cubs fan who loved all sports, especially the Hobart Brickies on a Friday night. Arthur loved music, including blues and rock and roll, and would be the first one out on the dance floor. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, fiancé and friend.

He is survived by his 2 children, John (Jennifer Dunn-Knight) Knight, and Bridget Knight; grandson, Rowan Knight; fiancée, Pamela Petkovich McGrew.

Arthur was a loving husband and preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Knight.

Visitation for Arthur will be Friday, October 2, 2026 from 2:00- 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
