Arthur Maynard
age 80, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. He was born on February 11, 1931 to the late Floyd James and Ellen Maynard in Taplin, West Virginia. Arthur was a retired plant worker from General Mills in Chicago, Illinois and proudly served his country in the United States Army. On October 4, 1952 Arthur married the love of his life Iva Ruth Riddle in Crown Point, Indiana. He enjoyed being a witness for the Lord, fishing, sitting at the Portage River Walk and going to garage sales for treasures.He is survived by loving wife Iva Ruth Maynard of Portage, son; Randy (Heather Schmidt) Maynard of Boise, ID, 2 Daughters; Diane (Clark) Eldridge of Lake Charles Louisiana, and Rhonda (Mike) Wilson of Portage, 4 grandchildren; Chad (Kyla) Eldridge, Stephanie (Jeff) Precourt, Dayna (Rob) Ardoin and Nathan (Elsa) Wilson 10 great-grandchildren and special edition to the family; Carol Blair and her son Kyle Blair.His parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters precede him in death.
A funeral service for Arthur will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Central Avenue Church of God, 5120 Central Ave, Portage, Indiana with Pastor Jerry P. Martin officiating, with additional hour of visitation prior to service. Burial will be held at McCool Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 17, 2011 also at Central Avenue Church of God from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Maynard Family, Central Avenue Church of God or VNA Hospice of Valparaiso.
