Arturo C. "Papa" Villarreal

Arturo C. "Papa" Villarreal, age 90 a longtime Lake Station resident passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021.  He was born on May 6, 1931 in Agualaguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to the late Arturo and Maria Villarreal.  Arturo retired from LTV Steel.  After retirement he worked for 18 years at Joan Martin as a Crossing Guard.  Arturo enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working around the house, working on cars, yardwork and driving around.  He was known by many as a handyman and jack of all trades.

He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Irma of Lake Station, IN; four children, Mona (Tom) Lunn of Hobart, IN; Patty Milbrandt of Union Mills, IN; Laurie Henrichs of Valparaiso, IN; Arturo (Blanca) Villarreal of Valparaiso, IN; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Victor, Guile, Pedro, and Rodolfo Villarreal, and one sister, Corina Villarreal.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Arturo's honor may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church.

Funeral services are Wednesday, December 29, 2021, beginning with 9:15 a.m. prayers and proceeding to St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam St., Lake Station for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Jaime Perea officiating.  Cremation will follow the services.  Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Mexico.  Visitation is Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary Service at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
