Barbara McMurray, age 80, of Portage and formerly of Zirconia, North Carolina went to be with her Lord, Friday May 21, 2021 at her brother's home.  She was born May 3, 1941 in Niles, Michigan to the late Walter and Pauline (Schoennmann) McWhirter.  She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by six brothers and sisters, Betty Ann (William) Hill of New Chicago, Randy McWhirter of New Chicago, Russell (Peggy) McWhirter of Houston, TX, Bill (Pam) McWhirter of Birmingham, AL, Jack McWhirter of Portage, and James (Lavada) McWhirter of Lake, Station, several nieces and nephews; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Joseph McMurray; her parents; five brothers, Richard, Walter, Robert, Roger, and Ronald McWhirter.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 2-4 pm with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368.  Private entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
