Barbara Joan Meeks, age 83, of Hobart passed away Sunday February 13, 2022, at Franciscan Health Crown Point. Barbara was born August 7, 1938, in Gary, Indiana to the late Nick and Margaret (Sanko) Larko. Barbara was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She enjoyed playing BINGO and sharing stories with her friends.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Barbara Karbowski of Merrillville, Deborah Robertson of Lake Station, and Cindy Guzman of Hobart; eight grandchildren, Heather (Randy) Drechney, Victor (Jeanie) Karbowski, Jr., Gareth (Tina) Robertson, Melissa Robertson, Christina Meeks, Sara Guzman, Nicole Jastak, and Joe Guzman; twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul (Joyce) Larko of Crown Point; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Roy; and her son-in-law Victor Karbowski, Sr..

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday February 18, 2022, at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday February 17, 2022, from 2-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
