Barbara L. Melton, age 85, of Portage passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018. She was born on February 9, 1953 in Gary, Indiana to the late William and Louise Montgomery. Barbara volunteered her time delivering for Meals on Wheels for 35 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Rollins of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Lori (Nate) Pratt, Sharon (Phil) Needler, Donna (Tim) Trimble, Lucas (Emily) Melton, Maggie Melton, Danielle Melton; 4 great grandchildren; brother, David Montgomery; sister, Kathleen (Bill) Sontag; many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; sons, Richard and Timothy Melton; and brother, John Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

A funeral service for Barbara will take place Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel,   5341 Central Ave., Portage. She will be laid to rest at Blake Cemetery.
