Barbara Jean Smith

Age 63, a Lake Station resident passed away peacefully at her home. She was born on November 18, 1961, in Gary, Indiana to the late Ernest and Annabelle (nee Cafin) Patten. She married the love of her life James Franklin Smith on October 19, 1985, in Portage, IN. Barbara was a compassionate person, loving, with a heart to inspire others. She enjoyed thrilling vacations in Vegas and Mackinac Island, Michigan. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 39 yrs, James F. Smith; two sons, Shawn Smith and Brandon (Amber) Smith; grandson, James Dale Smith; sister, Judy Charnetzky; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Patten; mother, Annabelle Patten; brother, Paul Patten; two sisters, Anna Miller and Norma Varga.
