Barbara Aileen Stanley-Pierce, age 79, a longtime resident of Hobart passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. She was born on August 14, 1931 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of Purn and Edna Pasley. Barbara was married to Jimmie Stanley on August 3, 1953. Barbara worked as an assembler for the Anderson Company. She was a member of the Christian Assembly Church for over 40 years, served as an elder of the church for 20 years, and also taught Sunday School. Her great joy was tending to her flower garden and collecting lighthouses.

Barbara is survived by her loving family; daughters Patricia (Jerry) Hauber, Pueblo-West, CO, Sandra (Steve) Pierce, Valparaiso, son Kenneth (Sue) Stanley, Hobart, 4 grandchildren, Laurie (Tom) Ferry, Ken (Edna) Elwood, Steve (Tara) Pierce, and Brian (Natalie) Pierce, 11 great grandchildren, sisters Pat Rickman, Hudson, MA, and Betty Jenkins, Hobart, brother Alan (Beverly) Pasley, Houston, TX, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmie Stanley, her husband Cecil Pierce, her grandson John Hart, sister Catherine Alb, sister Shirley Cotton, her brother Robert Pasley, and her brother Clarence Pasley.

A visitation for Barbara Stanley-Pierce will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Chesterton Cemetery.
