Barbara Wagner

Barbara N. "Gommie" Wagner, age 88, of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Barbara was born on September 11, 1934 in Kentucky to the late Harry and Susie Fletcher.  She was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School.  Barbara married William C. Wagner on June 26, 1953 and they spent 50 years together until his passing in 2004.  Barbara retired from the deli department at Jewel Osco in Crown Point, IN with 25 years of service.

Barbara was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She lived for her family and always took care of their needs.  Barbara loved to spend time with them and was very involved in their lives.  She loved to shop, especially on QVC, and was an expert couponer.  Barbara liked to sit by her window and watch the hummingbirds that came to her feeders. She recently enjoyed treating herself to pedicures.  Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and all who were lucky to know her.

Barbara is survived by her children: David (Linda) Wagner and Kristin (Richard Fekete) Geisler; grandchildren: Ashley Geisler, Zach (Emily) and Erik Wagner, and Justin Knopf; great-grandchild: Dylan Fiala and Jacob Scott; sister Donna (Bob) Toth; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, her "baby boys".

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband: William and parents: Harry and Susie.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart) on Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 12:00-2:00 P.M.  A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Charlie Strietelmeier officiating.  Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
