Barbara Mae Westerhout, age 77, a longtime resident of Lake Station and currently of Dunedin, FL passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in Traverse City, MI. She was born on May 4, 1933 in Hammond, the daughter of Daniel and Marie Miller. Barb was married to Daniel "Bubb" Westerhout on April 25, 1952 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1994. Barb was the owner of East Gary Concrete Company. She was a former member of the Ross Reformed Church. Barb loved to play cards, entertain, travel, and visit with family.
Barb is survived by her loving family; daughters Sandy (Frank) Odar, Valparaiso and Lorrie Sovich, Hobart, grandchildren; Danielle (Jeff) King, Frank Odar III, Adam Odar, Nicholas Sovich, and Natalie Sovich, Bradley J. Westerhout, Jennifer (Paul) Nunley, Melissa (Kyle) Klobucar, great-grandchildren Caleb King, Marina Nunley, and Soren Barrios, her loving companion Dick Bremer, Dunedin, FL, and his children Kim (Harvey) Justiniano and Kevin (Tara) Bremer, brother Ronald (Dorothy) Miller, Angola and sisters Eilean Hines, Sellersburg, and Rosalie Biter, Hobart, daughter-in-law Becky Westerhout, Lake Station, many nieces and nephews, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel Westerhout, son Bradley P. Westerhout, and her brothers Delbert and Wayne Miller.
A memorial funeral service for Barbara Westerhout will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 directly at the First United Methodist Church of Portage, 2637 McCool Road, Portage, with Reverend Dennis Ticen, officiating. A short visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial of cremains will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in Barb's memory may be made to the family.
