Barry "Pudge" McCorkle
age 55, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Porter Hospital in Portage. Barry had been a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident. Barry was born on September 25,1956 in Gary, Indiana the son of the late Philip and Gladys McCorkle. Barry married Alberta Klain on April 19,1980, and was a retired custodian for the Hobart School district and enjoyed helping with the Special Olympics of Porter County. Pudge will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta McCorkle of Valparaiso, sons; AJ (Melissa) McCorkle of Hobart and Michael McCorkle of Valparaiso, 4 brothers; Phil (Jeanette) McCorkle of Wisconsin, Duane McCorkle of Merrillville, Donald (Yolanda) McCorkle of Valparaiso, and William (Linda) McCorkle of Hobart, sister, Patricia (Ed) Podowski of Crown Point, mother in law, Marguerite Klain of Terre Haute, Sister in laws; Janet Peck of Shelbyville, Mary Ann Klain of Terre Haute, Carol (Pat) Heitz of Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn McCorkle and father in law Albert Klain.
Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows, 356 W. Seven Mile Road, Valparaiso, on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 9 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Special Olympics of Porter County.
