BEATRICE CREECH, age 88, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012. She was a longtime area resident coming from Kentucky. She was born on February 9, 1924 to Liddie and Robert Combs, who preceded her in death. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Beatrice is survived by her 3 sons, Elmer (Sue) Creech of Petersburg, IN, Danny (Lori) Creech of Chesterton, Alfred Creech of Portage; 2 daughters, Lillie Ellis, and Betty (Bryan) Gibson, all of Portage; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Sim (Evalee) Combs of Hindman, KY and Andrew (Betsy Ann) Combs of Hebron, IN; 2 sisters, Maude Creech of Wanatah, IN and Abby (Jim) Patton of Chesterton, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel; daughter, Paulene Creech; daughter-in-law, Shelia Creech; 2 grandchildren, Brenice Summerfield and Josh Creech; brother, Donihue; 4 sisters, Molly, Polly, Frankie, and Clara.
A local visitation for Beatrice will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. A funeral service will be held in Kentucky on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hindman Funeral Services, Inc., 619 Hindman Bypass, Hindman, KY 41822. Burial at Combs Cemetery in Hindman. Visitation in Kentucky will be Friday, September 28, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. also at Hindman Funeral Services, Inc.
