Beatrice "Bea" Rose (nee Hernandez) Shaw Diehm, age 70, of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Galveston, Texas on November 1, 1950 to the late Robert and Blanche (nee Gonzales) Hernandez.  On July 3, 1971, the Lord led her to the late Stephen Robert Shaw, who was a religious man who loved the Lord as well as Beatrice and married her in Portage, Indiana.  On July 3, 1992 she married her second husband, the late Willard Diehm.  Then a friend of Bea's introduced her to Everette "Joe" Williams on August 17, 2010 and they spent a wonderful companionship together for 10 years.  Beatrice began working as a legal secretary in 1986.  Then she began working at LTF eye clinic as a medical transcriptionist for 25 years, as well as covering several capacities in the eye clinic.  She took care of many administrative details.  In Bea's words…" My most wonderful job was raising my five children that I loved with all of my heart."  During her retirement she loved traveling and bowling.  Bea was a member of New Horizon Singles Club and Friends and Newcomers Club which she enjoyed in her free time.  She loved life and was always smiling, laughing, and making everyone feel loved.  She loved playing scrabble with her sister, Sylvia.  She would find any way possible to make friends and family feel happy.  But most of all, she loved and cherished all the time she spent with her family and friends and always enjoyed the little things in life. She will be remembered as the most selfless, positive, and loving woman ever!

Bea is survived by her children, Catherine (Ernest) Delgado of Valparaiso, Steve Shaw of Valparaiso, Theresa Shaw of Chesterton, Tina (Jerry Osborne) Shaw of Valparaiso, Pete Shaw of Valparaiso; sister, Sylvia Strong of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Meagan, Nathan, Connor, Andrew; and great grandchildren, Seth, Layla, Athena, Noah.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stephen P. Shaw in 1986 and Willard Diehm in 2004.

A visitation will take place Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 2-6 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368, following with a funeral service, with Pastor Jack Balon officiating, beginning at 6:00 pm. ** Please note that due to COVID-19 Porter County restrictions, only 25 people will be permitted in the building at one time and masks are required.** A graveside service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10:00 am with Pastor Ben Lamb officiating at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Rd.
