Benjamin W. Ploszaj

Benjamin William Ploszaj, age 89, of Portage passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Brickyard of Portage. He was born on March 5, 1936, to the late Boleslaw and Catherine Ploszaj in Gary, Indiana. Benjamin retired from Lasalle Steel in Hammond and had a strong work ethic as a crane operator. He valued his family above all, nurturing relationships with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed leisure activities in his youth including target shooting, fishing and eating out at restaurants. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Benjamin is survived by his son, William Ploszaj; daughter, Cathy Stone; grandchildren, Chris and Rayna; sister, Dorothy Dujmovic and other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Ploszaj; his parents; brother, Eugene and sister, Carol.

Visitation for Benjamin will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368. A funeral service will take place Friday at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
