Bernard Thomas "Bernie" Talian, age 65 of Hobart, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Bernie was born on December 29, 1948 to the late Joseph and Harriett Talian in Gary, Indiana. Before his retirement he was a Senior Vice President of Operations at Options Clearing Corporation. Bernie was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a devoted husband, father and papa.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Darlene (nee Burns)Talian of Hobart; 2 sons, Bernard Michael (Megan Elizabeth) Talian of Celebration, FL, Michael Patrick Talian of Hobart; 2 daughters, Aimee Marie Talian of Hobart, Kristin Marie (Nicholas Ryan) Vega of Chandler, AZ; brother, Bob Talian of Hobart; sister, Sister Marianne Talian O.S.M. of Plainfield, IL; mother-in-law, Theresa Burns of Valparaiso; 3 grandchildren, Abigail Marie Roper, Gavin Michael Roper, Evelyn Marie Vega and many other loving family members and friends.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Charles Taylor and father-in-law Jimmie Burns.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernie will be on Thursday, December 18, 2014 beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, IN and processing to St. Bridget Catholic Church 568 E. 2nd St., Hobart, IN. at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Quanz celebrating and Rev. Dominic V. Bertino co-celebrating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a 4:15 p.m. prayer service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
