Beth Howell (nee Vargo), age 83, of Crown Point passed away March 20, 2024. She was born on January 14, 1941, in Gary, Indiana to the late Joseph B. and Isabelle Vargo.

Beth graduated from Hobart High School in 1959 and attended Ball State University studying education. Beth loved nature and animals, especially wolves and horses. She enjoyed studying Native American history, gardening, and reading. Beth was an amazing artist and liked to do oil painting and drawing. She will be remembered as a generous, supportive person who was non-judgmental and very open-minded. Beth will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend.

She is survived by her loving children Tanya (Ron) Martinez-Plesac and Steven Martinez; her grandchildren, David A. Warfield, Steven J. Martinez, Mia E. Martinez, and Delayna I. Martinez; her brother, Joseph (Sue Helm) Vargo; her cousin, Jack Traeger.

She is preceded by her parents Joseph and Isabelle Vargo.
