Betsy N. Runions

Betsy N. Runions, age 93, of Portage passed away in her home with her family by her side on Wednesday June 19, 2024. She was born November 19, 1930, in Obion County, Tennessee to the late Lexie and Birdie Mae (Lawson) Heskett. Betsy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Betsy is survived by her daughter, Diane (Jim) Gedda of Crown Point; three grandchildren, Alexis Gedda, James C. Gedda, and Scott Gedda; three great grandchildren, Madison, Elliana, and Sophia; a brother, Marvin (Mary) Heskett of Tennessee; and a sister, Linda Lyle of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her parents; two daughters, Anita Runions and Norma Runions; a granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Gedda; a great granddaughter Nora; five brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation for Betsy will be on Wednesday from 9-11 am June 26, 2024, at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11 am with Mr. Gerald Frump officiating. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana.
