Bette Ruth Clayton

Age 94, a Hobart resident for the past 67 years, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024. Bette was born July 8, 1930, in French Lick, Indiana to the late Aaron and Susan (nee Walters) Bledsoe. She was a Horace Mann High School graduate, after graduation she attended Gary Business College where she met the love of her life. On January 21, 1949, Bette married her love, Paul M. Clayton Sr. and they spent 46 wonderful years together before his passing in 1993. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart. Bette was a retired administrative assistant at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, where she worked for 26 yrs. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah A. (John) Cook; grandson, Robert (Natalie) Cook; granddaughter, Amy (Mike) Kane; four great grandchildren, Aaron and Matthew Cook, Mary and Lucy Kane and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul M. Clayton, son Paul M. Clayton, Jr.

A funeral service for Bette will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
