Betty Coffel

Betty Coffel, age 86, a longtime resident of Portage passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011. She was born on November 22, 1924 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of Fred and Princess Personette. Betty was a 1942 graduate of Horace Mann High School and then married Lee Coffel on January 10, 1947. Betty worked for over 15 years as a personal banker for Indiana Federal in Portage. Betty was very active and served as a Past Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel # 30, was a Past Queen of Aretas Temple # 153 Daughters of the Nile, was a Past Matron of Olive Chapter # 396 Order of Eastern Star, and served as the 1978 - 1979 Past Grand Matron of the Indiana Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Betty is survived by her loving family; daughter Beverly Coffel, Portage, son Richard (Chiyoko) Coffel, Albuqerque, New Mexico, grandchildren, Jennifer and James, and great-grandchildren Gabriella and Sophia, other loving family and dear friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lee Coffel, and her brother Fred Personette, Jr.

A visitation for Betty Coffel will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. An Eastern Star Service and a Daughters of the Nile Memorial service will be offered at 7:00 pm followed by at funeral service with Pastor Lorrayne Rizer, officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 12, 2011 directly at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorials in Betty's memory can be made to the Coffel family.
