Betty E. Evans (nee Shermer), age 84 of Hobart passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013. She was born on February 12, 1929 in Joliet, Illinois to the late Earl and Anna Shermer. She was a longtime Hobart resident and worked for over 25 years selling Avon. Betty was a member of the Hobart Church of Christ.

She is survived by 1 son, Rev. Robert (Nancy) Evans of Foley, AL; 2 daughters, Mary Ann (Glenn) Marshall of Foley, AL; Judy (Marty) Chappo of Hobart, IN; 1 brother, Jim (Evelyn) Shermer of Edwardsville, IL; 7 grandchildren, Daniel and Carrie Evans, Jennifer and Kimberly Marshall, Michael, Mark, and Michelle Wefler, and several loving great-grandchildren, and good friend, Irene Kellinger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton W. Evans, and 1 brother, Richard Shermer.

Funeral services are Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West old Ridge Road, Hobart with Minister Jerry A. Cleek officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
