BETTY JAYNE GURBAND, age 76, of Lake Station, passed away peacefully in her home under the care of her loving son and daughter-in-law on Friday, March 28, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gary, Indiana on May 2, 1948. Betty was a graduate of East Gary Edison High School and went on to work as a medical secretary for 36 years in a doctor's office. She was a beautiful and lively woman who was full of love and life, she shared that gift by caring for people and animals alike. Betty enjoyed gardening and taking care of her yard & home and of all the people she knew and loved. "Sun's out Betty's out."  She was very social and enjoyed staying in touch with her various groups of friends. You could find Betty at the Franklin House in Valpo watching sports or hanging with friends at the "Shit Show" Bar.  Betty was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching the games with her son Michael, who she shared a special bond with.  She enjoyed thrifting special gifts for her friends and shopping the Salvation Army every Tuesday. Betty will be remembered for being a beautiful soul and missed greatly through those who knew her.

She is survived by her loving son, Michael (Brittany) Poti; daughter, Christine Gunder; brother, Kenneth (Jan) Gurband; 2 cats, Sir Winston and Willow Rose; grandson, Logan Poti; granddogs, Vincent and Mia Poti; and many, many friends and other loving family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Fenton and Alvina Gurband; brother, Richard Gurband; her treasured dogs, Sam and Missy; and her beloved cat, Baby.
