Betty Jean Kearby, age 88, of Portage, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016. She was born on March 31, 1928 in Hillham, Indiana to the late Norman and Delma Line. She was a long time Portage resident and was formerly of French Lick, IN. Betty was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hobart.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of almost 70 years, Raymond of Portage, IN; son, Bill Kearby of Portage, IN; daughter, Beth (Bill) Trella of Portage, IN; special nurse and caregiver – granddaughter, Tracy Hughes, as well as grandchildren, Phil, Scott, David, Bryan, Angie, Kristina Kearby, Ashby Gurgon; 8 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jana Gurgon; sons, David and Scott Kearby; granddaughter, Kim; great grandson, Tommy.
Memorial donations in Betty's honor may be made to the VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
Funeral Services will take place Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368, with Rev. Michael Cover officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 just prior to the service from 12-3:00 pm at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
