Betty A. Smith (nee Walker), age 93, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born on October 22, 1932, in Gibson County, Tennessee to the late Lester and Ola Lee Walker. Betty was a school bus driver in Hammond and Gary since 1969. She was a member of Liverpool Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed going to Las Vegas, woodworking and crocheting.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Laura Jean (Jason Lewis) Abner; and three great grandchildren, Justus, Leland and Nikolas Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Shannon Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Smith-Abner and Bobby Abner; siblings, Cecil, Earl, Wilson, Paul, Ralph, Estelle, and Laverne.

Betty's cremains will be buried at Oakland Cemetery in Trenton, Tennessee. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
