Betty L. Urbanik, age 97, of Portage, formerly of Gary, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was born on July 30, 1919 to the late Wm. H. and Lydia M. (nee Conaway) Johns. Betty is survived by her children son, John "Tom" (Kathy) Urbanik of Portage; two grandchildren, Shauna Urbanik of Valparaiso and Michael (Susan) Urbanik of Georgia; sister, Wanda Viars, daughter-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Urbanik, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Urbanik; son, Joe Urbanik, her parents and 14 siblings.
Visitation, will take place Friday, January 13, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will be held privately at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Additional visitation will be held, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
