Bienvenida (nee Velez) Toledo, age 90, of Lake Station passed away Sunday August 3, 2025, at the St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.  She was born October 2, 1934, in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Juan and Adelina (Valentin) Velez. Bienvenida was a longtime resident of Northwest Indiana. She was a woman that loved Jesus and lived a life of service to family and those around her. She loved sewing, gardening, and reading. Bienvenida was a longtime member of Lake Station Baptist Church.

Bienvenida is survived by her two children, Fredeswinda (Raul) Martinez of East Chicago, and Rev. Orlando L. Toledo of Lake Station; two grandsons, Luis (Angela) Roldan, and Joseph (Karen) Roldan; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnulfo; her parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Visitation for Bienvenida will be held Friday August 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Avenue Lake Station, Indiana 46405. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Portage, Indiana.
