Billie King, age 85, of Portage passed away Monday December 2, 2013 at his home with his loving family. Billie was born August 31, 1928 in Brilliant, AL to the late Lee and Lonnie (Atchley) King. Billie was a Maintenance worker retiring from Universal Atlas in 1986. Billie married Dolpha (Short) King on November 25, 1953 in Crown Point, IN. Billie loved his family, woodworking and gardening.

Billie is survived by his loving wife Dolpha; daughter Veronica "Vicky" (David) McDaniel of Lake Station; a brother J.D. (Osline) King of Bradenton, FL; two nieces and a nephew.
Billie was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Jack King and two sisters Clara Causey and Claris Yager.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday December 4, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana with Minister Jerry Cleek officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until the time of services at 1 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts are preferred to the VNA Hospice Center 2401 Valley Dr. Valparaiso, Indiana 46383 in lieu of flowers.
