BILLY JOE COLEMAN, age 79, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016. He was born in Trimble, TN on August 26, 1937 to the late Marion and Abbie Coleman. Billy Joe proudly served in the US Army. He worked at the Budd Plant and as a Laborer for Local #81 and Superior Construction for the State of Illinois and State of Indiana. Billy Joe was a member of the VFW 5365 Auxiliary, American Legion 454 and the Izaak Walton League, where he was a past president. He will be remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; son, Jeffrey (Priscilla) Coleman of Hobart; 2 daughters, Tammy (William) Carroll of NC and Vicki Jo (Mike) Raymond of Gary; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; sister, Annie Lea Tubb of Martin, TN; other loving family.

Billy Joe was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Max, Bennie, D.B. Coleman, and Bob Matheny; 4 sisters, Mary Ruth Wood, Nellie Edmaiston, Evie Jewel South, and Maxine Coleman.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family.

A visitation for Billy Joe will be Friday, September 16, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Cremation will be at a later time and a private burial of cremains will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
