Billy Winchester, 87, of Lake Station, joined his wife Jeanette and Jesus on May 16, 2016. He passed peacefully at his home of over 50 years with family by his side. He was born on December 12, 1928 in Memphis, TN. He was married to Jeanette (nee Maynard) Winchester for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Winchester; sister, Maggie Bates; and nephew Al Bates.
He is survived by daughters, Romona Hursey of Lake Station, Kim (Gary) Milne of Louisville, CO; grandchildren, Iain (Karen) Hursey, Heather (Ryan) Schoonveld, Sarah (Brandon) Morgan, Ben (Michelle) Milne, and Mariah Milne; great grandchildren, Jaimee Jangia, Ashley Main, Alyssa Main, Hunter Main, Kayla Qualizza, Cash Hursey, Amelia Morgan, Jackson Morgan, Charlie Schoonveld; nieces Patty Anderson and Anita Bates Schroer.
He is a Korean War hero with a Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Star. Even more so, he was a hard working carpet installer for over 50 years and he could fix anything. He loved Jesus and would do anything for his family and friends.
A special thanks to the VNA Hospice of Valparaiso for their wonderful care in assisting family with in-home care to fulfill his heart's desire of passing in the comfort of his home.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 10:00 am, with military honors, at Graceland Cemetery, 1505 E Morthland Dr, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
