BOBBY L. LINDSEY, age 81, of Griffith, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in his home. Bobby had been a Northwest Indiana resident since 1951 and was a retired foreman of the #1 BOP Shop at US Steel in Gary with 34 years of service. He was a member of the Portage Eagles and an avid boater, fisherman, outdoorsman and gardener. Bobby also enjoyed canning, especially his tomato juice. He was an avid follower of NASCAR, University of Kentucky basketball and loved woodworking.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail Lindsey-West & her husband, Dean West of Hartford, KY, son, John (Mary) Lindsey of New Carlisle, IN, 6 grandchildren: John C. (Karen) Lindsey of LaPorte, IN, Allison (Brendan) Martin of Chicago, IL, Marc Lindsey of Montana, Dean (Deanna) West, Eric (Carol) West and Christian (Carrie) West, 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services and visitation will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with the visitation beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral services begins at 3:00 pm with Fraternal Order of Eagles officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, Kentucky on Monday, July 1, 2013.
